Why Tomb Raider King is the Ultimate King of Action Regression Manhwa

Move over Indiana Jones and Lara Croft—there is a new artifact hunter in town, and he doesn’t care about preserving history. He just wants to steal it all.

If you have been keeping an eye on the manhwa world lately, you already know that Tomb Raider King (produced by the legendary REDICE Studio) stands tall alongside Solo Leveling and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint as part of the action webtoon “Big Three.” And with the explosive news that Studio EEK is officially releasing a full animated series adaptation in July 2026, there has never been a better time to dive into this absolute wild ride of a story.

If you love high-stakes action, brilliant time-travel strategies, and a protagonist who is unapologetically chaotic, here is why Tomb Raider King needs to be your next binge-read.

1. The Ultimate Anti-Hero: Seo Joo-Heon

Let’s be real: generic, pure-hearted heroes who want to save the world can get a little boring. Enter Seo Joo-Heon.

After being brutally betrayed by his corrupt employer and left to die in a dangerous tomb, Joo-Heon is miraculously sent 15 years back into the past—right before the world’s mysterious, power-granting “Tombs” and “Relics” first appear.

Joo-Heon doesn’t use his knowledge of the future to become a saintly savior. Armed with his future memories, he decides to get absolute revenge by systematically hoarding every single powerful relic on earth before anyone else can touch them. He is petty, incredibly smart, fiercely protective of his team, and hilarious to watch as he completely swindles his future enemies.

2. Relics with Mind-Blowing Personalities

In most fantasy series, magical weapons are just inanimate tools. In Tomb Raider King, the Relics are practically main characters.

Based on real-world mythology, history, and folklore (like the Relics of Prometheus, Shakespeare, or ancient gods), these items possess their own unique egos, quirks, and terrifying superpowers. Some relics are arrogant, some are incredibly lazy, and others are violently stubborn. Watching Joo-Heon use a mix of physical dominance, psychological gaslighting, and historical knowledge to force these ancient, god-like entities into submission—essentially turning them into his personal errand boys—is one of the most satisfying and unique dynamics in the entire medium.

3. A Perfect Blend of High-Stakes Action and Comedy

While series like Solo Leveling lean heavily into dark, gritty power fantasy, Tomb Raider King masterfully balances its high-octane combat with top-tier comedy.

The strategy here isn’t just about who can punch harder; it’s a brilliant game of tactical chess. Joo-Heon constantly has to figure out the hidden “taboos” and rules of each tomb to conquer it. Combined with the incredible, dynamic art style provided by REDICE Studio and the constant, chaotic banter between Joo-Heon and his ride-or-die crew (including the fan-favorite artifact restorer Yoo Jae-Ha), the story never suffers from pacing fatigue.
